Lincoln Continental, Silver, for sale in Charlotte, North Carolina, for $45,995.

This custom built 1941 Lincoln Continental 2-Door post sedan designed, built, and crafted by the late Mr. Edsel Ford is one of only 850 post sedans built in 1941. Built between 1940 and 1948, he would vacation every winter in Palm Beach Florida. Everyone would await his arrival to see the freshest Continental that Dearborn had to offer. This car turned heads wherever it went and was still popular after World War II and still is today. New for 1941 were a new design pushbutton door release, which added to its distinctive allure, chrome bumper guards with rails, beautiful Cardinal Red leather interior with carpeting, a vast array of dashboard options, gold rimmed instruments and radio speaker grills. The exterior is painted with a beautiful Sea Mist Pewter color. To show off this car are wide whitewall tires with complimenting color matching wheels, small dog dish hubcaps with chrome wheel rings, very rare red crown stem caps, continental kit and much more.

The original Zephyr V-12 motor has been replaced with a modern GM 350cid crate ZZ4 crate motor and is mated with a modern TH350 Turbo Hydra Matic transmission, which only has 2500 miles registered. To compliment this modern drive train, the new owner will enjoy the power steering, power brakes, power windows, air conditioning, aftermarket gauges, AM/FM/CD radio, cruise control and much more. The suspension was left alone, as it was one of the finest of the period. The front end has a beam axle with transverse leaf springs and a similar design in the rear. Brakes are of the 4-wheel hydraulic-actuated drums.

In 1940 only 404 Continentals were built. The next year when popularity increased, only 1250 cars were built: 400 Cabriolet and 850 coupes. Who knows how many are around today. Suffice to say, not many exist. What I can say is this design is recognized by classic car society as one of the finest automobile designs of the twentieth century.

You won't have to be in Palm Beach to turn heads. This Lincoln will turn heads anywhere. Because of the recent updates you will find plenty of parts. It is dependable, it presents itself well and you will be able to show, tell or drive it anywhere that they did 70 years ago. In 1992 Car Collector featured 70 years of Lincoln and said this design was Lincoln's symbol of prestige, luxury and style. Doesn't that say it all? Let a Streetside Classic sales associate show you this classic.
