The first generation Range Rover, originally called the Range Rover Classic, was introduced to the world in 1970. Founded by Maurice Wilks and created by engineers, Spencer King and Gordon Bashford, this vehicle became one of the greatest types in its class in manufacturing history. Manufactured by Land Rover, a British car manufacturer that is known for its specialty in producing four-wheel drive vehicles, it has defined the market of four wheel drives.
The Land Rover Company was founded in 1947, with the company manufacturing the Range Rover in 1969. Since then, the Range Rover has experienced explosive growth across the world. In fact, with the increase in popularity and intrigue of the vehicle, Land Rover began selling them in the United States, introducing them to the market on March 16, 1987. Prior to March 16, 1987 the Range Rover was illegally imported through the gray market. Even though newer Ranger Rovers have been produced, many die-hard Range Rover fans can be seen driving the Range Rover Classic and only the Classic.
DESIGN
It is no wonder the Range Rover Classic has such a devoted following. It's a four wheel drive vehicle that has amazing handle, saloon car performance and comfort. Even now, it beats its Jeep and Bronco competitors. It can be driven anywhere and in any condition, making it the type of car any four wheel enthusiast would love to fall into.
Furthermore, the Range Rover intertwines two worlds beautifully, the world filled with rugged driving and the world of comfort and luxury. For example, when driving in harsh, uneven conditions, the car still remains smooth and is easy to handle. Plus, the Range Rover Classic has a special device that maintains the level of the car regardless of the road conditions.
Having a classic car that provides safety, durability, comfort and class is a luxury that is found in the Range Rover. It is equipped with the type of amenities you would expect from a luxury vehicle of the highest class. This includes features such as power assisted steering, air conditioning, carpeted floors and cloth or leather seats. In later editions of the Range Rover Classic, interior wood trim and sunroofs became available.
If you are looking for a classic four wheel drive filled with excitement, comfortable off road handling and a solid 4x4 vehicle, there is no need to look any further; the Ranger Rover is your answer.
