1982 Ford Courier pickup
I have a few questions that hopefully someone can answer.
(1) How old does a car have to be to be considered and antique? Would my 1982 Ford Courier be considered an antique? (2) Is there anyone on this forum who has a 1972-1982 Ford Courier pickup? (3) If I have a 1982 Ford Courier pickup with low mileage that was stored in a garage and is completely original (for the most part) and is in excellent condition, could anyone take a guess at what my truck is worth? I guess what I am saying is, do I have truck worth anything, or do I just have old pickup? http://www.prognesubis.com/photopost...05_600x400.jpg |
Sorry to burst your bubble but right now you just have an old pickup. Each state varies in what is called an antique, collectible or classic car as far as special licensing is concerned. Generally the vehicle must be 30 years old or older. The true definitions are generally defined as follows:
Antique: Defined by the AACA, generally vehicles in the brass era - 1915 and earlier. Classic: Defined by the Classic Car Association - generally extremely high quality cars of WWII vintage and earlier such as Duesenberg, Cord, Auburn, etc. Collectible: Most other vehicles fit in this category and really could include anything, especially car clubs devoted to the specific make and/or model of the subject car. However, if your truck is really in good shape, enjoy it and preserve it. Eventually it will reach the collectible status. I hope this helps. |
backtohudsons, thanks for your reply. I am glad this forum is still active.
I did contact the AACA and they informed me that my 1982 Ford Courier would be eligible to be entered in a show as of 2007. They said my truck must be 25 years old. I contacted the Florida DMV and they informed me that my truck is eligible for a specialy collector's tag because it is 20 years old. |
I am looking for a set of mirrors for a 1979-1982 Ford Courier. (I have the mirrors, but they had an option for larger extended mirrors for vehicles with camper tops and I like the larger extended mirrors better) I need the entire mirror assembly for right and left side.
I am also looking for an OEM rear bumper. It had the license plate light on both sides of the license plate, not just one side. The original owner opted for a tow hitch installation and it has a heavy duty aftermarket bumper on it. I want this vehicle to have only geniune ford parts on it. It is not a matter of just getting a bumper, I can get a new bumper that is like OEM, but I want an actual OEM bumper like would have came on my vehicle stock. |
Glad you're continuing on. AACA apparently has changed the way they do things. That's good in a lot of respects. Clubs that don't change with the times fade away into thin air.
I don't have any parts for your Courier but remember that Mazda trucks of the same vintage have many interchangeable parts. |
Yes, the Mazda B2000 Sundowner was the same truck as the Ford Courier. I also have a 1984 Mazda B2000 Sundowner, but the rear bumper on it is not the same style as the one that came on my 1982 Ford Courier XLT.

It's great to see that your courier is in such good shape. In a few years that truck will be a true collector because you can't find them anymore. People have not saved these like the other types of cars..

Here in Colorado collector plates require that your vehicle is 30 years old. We have these plates on our 1971 GTO and my nieghbor has them on his 1969 Chevelle.

I'm finding it hard to find parts for my '82 ford courier as well. It is getting together but it is a slow project. I have a huge list of parts I am trying to replace with OEM parts, one at a time. I was wondering if anyone had a picture of what the interior is supposed to look like? The truck I have is missing a few pieces in the interior. I was wondering what i am looking for. The manual i have doesn't really cover the '82 very well. Thanks for any help.
