Hi I'm new to this forum. What is the correct tail light arrangement for the "6 taillight" of an Impala? i just bought a 65 impala and I think my taillights are working improper. Aren't the outside and inside lights suppose to lght when the headlights are on? and the center light lights up when backing up.

that is correct but, alot of guy's played w/the wires and sockets and ran dual filiment bulbs so both lights signaled as well as braked....it was the cool thing to do(i like it!)...the harness is availible should you opt for a new one...

Thanks impalachaz. Right now my lights work in this fashion, the inside most lights work as the running lights, brake lights and turn lights. the midddle lights work as backing up lights. however the outside most lights are not working. What do you suggest I check first to get the lights to work properly? I checked the fuses they look fine.

check the metal tabs on the socket itself make sure they are clean and rust free
also when you place the socket back in sometimes twist the socket back and forth
to get a good ground i find that and the connectors have lost their tension inside
the socket solves most light problems.
