I believe that the voltage regulator on the 48s and 49s was on the firewall.

37 Terraplane shifter 'stump' chipped so can't get reverse, and Electric Hand not working either!
You should be able to remove the floorboard and just remove the top cover from the transmission and then remove the "stump" from the cover.

Fuel Gauge Reading
If your guage "moves a little"it could be that the float on the sender has sprung a leak and has partially sunk. Replacements are nylon from a 70s or 80s Ford.

Stepdown Radio - suppressors needed?
Only use supressors as needed, if you have no ignition, generator, tire or guage noises in the radio, you don't need any. .

Studebaker International in South Bend, In. has had them remade. They have 6 and 12 volt versions but they're $195.00!

Battery Tenders
When a battery is charging it gives off hydrogen gas, the reason for the vented caps, it combines with oxygen in the air and forms water. This is what you are seeing on top of your battery and is normal.
