electrical problem
Sounds like a battery connection problem somewhere. Have you checked the ground connection as well as all others?How about the cable condition and size? Was the generator charging when the car was running? What's the battery condition now?

A little help here
A little late here but in removing the parking light lens you need to turn the stainless steel ring that the lens is attached to rather than the just the lens.

headlight
Tom, I think that should be a 6006 headlight that you should be able to find at about any parts house. The originals didn't have the 3 little alignment tabs on the glass but other than that they are about the same.
