Do not dispare.....you are doing a good job. I also had STUFF in my block and on top of that found a 3/4 in washer in the intake??? NO wonder mine did not run very good? Strange things get discovered when you break down a 70 year old block!

Make sure that the shifting rod to the tranny is adjusted correctly. I was having issues and it was only an adjustment to this rod that lined every thing up!!!!

308 head studs
Fastenal has what you need,$40.00 for 21 cadium plated ,grade eight and they have grade #9 washers. This what I used to up grade to the 1/2 size. I believe they were 3'' long. Then put 90 ft pounds to them.
