Hudson Club site down?
-
Got an inquiry about this, from Brownie Petersen -
Does not appear to be responding...
www.hudsonclub.org/ -
I too had trouble at work and home today. Did a search, found a link and I'm now back on the site. I was getting a "forbidden to view" error.
Jim -
Yes, It is dead.
The new Web Site is: www.hetclub.org
PayPal can be used to pay for Club Store and Membership.
Please do not ask me how since I did not develop anything for this site and I have not tried to pay anything via it either.
Yeah, at laaaaaast! -
Who is administering the site? They forgot the Western Reserve Chapter's web site listing. I can email them the address.
How do you get a password to enter the member's area section. Does the forum section which also requires a password bring you here? -
Now, everybody just stay calm. I have contacted our webmaster and we're approaching this from a level-headed, rational way. There is a logical, rational explanation for all this. Everyone keep cool.

Jon:
I reread my post and I guess at the start it sounded a little snippy, but I did not mean it that way. It looks like a lot of what people have been asking for is coming, so we will patiently with great anticipation wait for all to be revealed.
Thanks to all who have been working on this. -
Does anyone know when the change over to the new site will happen in ernest? Both sites are working now, but the new site seems to change just a little day to day. I was on the live chat hosted by hetclub.org and today it links to the classiccar.com live chat area, just for an example.
Are we just seeing the work in progress and should wait for "offical" word before trying out the new site? I signed up for a hetclub.org e-mail account and was looking forward to having an email dedicated to hudson related items. -
HET members have actually had a relationship with classiccar.com for about 12-13 years now even when it had gone offline for a brief time.

How does one sign up for an HET e-mail account? I am a member of the club, but I do not know how to do this - Thanks

I was referring to the change from http://hudsonclub.org/ which is the site I have known to http://www.hetclub.org/ a site with paypal and other updates? Is http://www.hetclub.org/ going to be our new site or is it something different entirely? -

If you go to the "new" site http://www.hetclub.org/ you can find where it says "Get E-Mail" and click there. I have done so, but I might have jumped the gun. Until we hear that this will now be the official site I would not do what I have done. Wait and see would be much better advice than jump in and see what happens. -

I just went over the the "new" site and went to the "Get E-Mail" link. Then I simply filled out the form. Only problem I had was finding a mailing sheet with my club ID number. Once I found that it was very easy to apply.

Thanks, Hudsonsoul and Alex. I thnk I'll probably wait until we find out for sure if this is the new official site. - Michael

I would have to say it is the new HET site. The old one has not been updated in SEVEN months (1 Sept 2008)!"The time has come", the Walrus said, "to speak of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings..." -

"Apply," yes, Alex... but what happens next? I received an email (at my regular address) with my application data (including my password, in plain text)... but when I "Entered" the hetclub.org page and clicked "Get E-mail," all I got was the form to sign up again.
I guess I don't understand how it's supposed to work. -

As did I yesterday. This morning I awoke to find another email giving me some information - pretty much it seems that you wind up at this URL:
http://mail.hetclub.org:2095/webmail/bluehost/?login=1
Hmmmm - it appears clicking on the above link takes you to a box that requests your user name and password. Apparently isn't needed - I clicked on Cancel and was taken to the email login box that requests your new email and password. This takes you to another box with several email choices - I clicked on "squirrelmail" and that took me to the inbox. (squirrel mail is appropriate - it's webmail for nuts!!!!

Thanks, Alex! I got it. Following your lead, I simply hit "Cancel" on the first request, and a smaller box popped up asking for my full email address (not just my user name) and password. When I realized it wanted more than just my username, I got to the "squirrelmail" and found my little test message.
