Thought this was 'dead and buried' a while back... Good to hear that it might have a 'second life'! Keep us posted, ok? -
Those radiator panels look original! I think these are important, they keep a Hudson cool. I don't think that the fan can properly pull air through the radiator without them. Good idea to make them thicker as well. The original panels were to thin and they always seem to be bent and cracked.

very true, Ed, these are missing on many cars and the owner is not even aware that it is gone. Bill albright

Bill,
Any chances on having Stepdown rockers re-popped?Dave W.
What's life without a Hudson? -
Hey Bill, let me know when the fender lights come in.
Thanks,
Lance -
no plans on rockers, sorry bill a

Hello, I just wqnted to let everyone know that I got my repro lower radiator pan today from Bill nad it looks fantastic. I know my car was missing this piece and it always ran hot. If you don't have one on yours, better get while you can.

Bill, what year cars do these shrouds fit? Neither of my stepdowns have shrouds, were they options or just missing from many cars? Thanks, Richie. -
I got a lower shroud from Bill also. Fantastic workmanship. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, since it is snowing like crazy in denver right now, but I am sure it will help keep the car cooler. Thanks Bill.

I'm no expert, and I'd like to see this question answered by someone who knows. But I believe these go on 48'-54' sixes only, not eights. The radiator is thicker on an eight. -

I don't know about difference of thickness for the radiators between a six and an eight, I thought they were the same.
I have these panels on my 52 C8, the bottom panel as far as I know is original. -
As Far As I Know They Were Installed On All Stepdowns, Bill A. Also Have 100 Sets Fof Fender Light Gaskets, That I Will Sell Seperately As I Have Rec No Fender Lights. How About 20.00 Per Pair. They Look To Be Excellent Repros, Bill A.
-
My observation is that the upper panel on the Eights is narrower across the top, as the radiator is positioned about 1 1/2 inches further forward than on the sixes (by reversing the orientation of the four radiator support brackets).

The lower pan only fits long wheel base. SWB is different. Upper,6 cyl.only.48-53. Look like nice pieces. These are always rusty, worn and bent up. Battery acid also eats these up.

That sounds right to me. Except I think they go on 54' also, the upper piece just has an added cut-out to allow for a cable to pass through at the hood latch area. That could be filed out without any problem on these new pieces. -

Doug, can you explain where and how they attach? Do they actually help cooling? I've never seen them on a car. Thanks, Richie. -

The lower shroud mounts under the frame just back of the radiator. It attaches with 4 sheet metal screws #10 or 12's. It is in the way to access the petcock or lower radiator hose from underneath, could be one of the reasons it was missing. -

Thanks Pat, that sheds some light on it, now I have some idea. Richie.
