You might have if you were a little quicker. Neils posted it up here on the 17th. It was on autotraderclassics in the San Diego area. Was only 24,000 then.

l restored the car in 2000 and sold it for 24K, since costs have doubled since then , i gladly bought it back, It had only been driven 200 miles in 8 years, having front bumper and guards replated and a little freshening up. Already have a happy buyer, Thanks for your comments, BILL ALBRIGHT

Not sure what you mean here? I was just stating when the post was they didn't have enough to buy the car, not even two weeks ago it was posted for 16,000 less. As Joe Friday always said, " Just stating the facts mam" ;)

Nice car, but I don't see $40K for a '54. But, hey, they haven't outlawed free enterprise...yet...enough people are certainly trying to. Bill A says it's sold, good on him. My 2 cents.
"The time has come", the Walrus said, "to speak of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot,
    And whether pigs have wings..."

i was refering to the stepdown that mr. a was restoring a few months ago. there were many pics of the progress on this forum. it was maroon with a cream roof. during that time there was no mention of the asking price. at the national meet in mass. i tried to talk to mr. a about the caR AND GET SOME INFO. he was very cold and almost rude ,never answering me ,just walked away with his grandson. yes he did not know me but he was not even willing to meet me or disscus the car he was selling. then he listed the car for 70k with a sentence attached saying thats what he had in it and was not making a profit. then why do all that work if your truley not making a profit. does not make sense huh. this is not meant to be a rude post just getting some facts out there. thank you

Bill, thanks for the interior pictures. It's a great looking Hollywood!

And to "Top Down," you are correct. The interior door armrests are on the wrong sides. Each should be moved to the opposite door to be correct.

'bought 4 other hudsons for 35k' and this is everone else,s business why? maybe somebody needs to feel important? saying he bought 4 other hudsons is great but why tell others your personal money matters? hopefully the person who bought these does not know that we all now what he spent.

I think you misunderstood Bill's post, he sold the car for $35k, to the same person who has bought four other Hudsons from him.

Llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllli Guess My Language Was Unclear I Meant To Say The Car Was Sold 6o A Buyer Who Has Purchased 4 Other Cars From Me In The Past At Various Prices. This One I Sold For 35k, Even Tho I Thought It To Be Worth 40k. Some People Think I Make A Fortune On These Cars. I Wish They Would Try To Restore One To My Standards And Find Out What Reality Is. Btw, I Am Still Learning After 38 Years And Hundreds Of Cars. I Now Know How To Put On A 54 Armrest, Although I Left That Up To My Upholsterer, And Never Noticed The Error. Thanks For The Correction, You Learn Something Every Day, Bill Albright

Tell you what, Bill: for every negative critic you get, you probably have 200 more folks that appreciate what you're doing. Which means, you're doin' just great!! Keep up the good work.

Bill, I understood what you were saying, some people like to find fault or are jealous of what others are doing. I can't afford your cars but it doesn't mean I don't appreciate what you put into them. Don't let the negative stuff get you down. You saved that 54 from going to a non hudson buyer or speculator and got it to a collector of Hudsons. Anyone of us could have bought it from the seller and didn't so shame on us for not jumping on the opportunity.

The price of restoring a car is usually a shock to the inexperienced. I know first hand how much a 54 Hollywood cost to restore. A few years ago I "fixed up" a 54 Hollywood for a friend. it was a running decent looking car. he purchased for $10 K.. A fair price .. I had receipts for over $20,000 for materials and plating. No interior work other than carpet, complete engine rebuild, rust repair and painting.I didn't charge a penny for labor. I worked on the car nearly full time for 15 months. A pro would have taken less. I did it in return for his friendship over the years and to have the fun of doing the job without having to pay for it myself. LOL. He had a little over 30K invested in a nice car but not a completely restored car like Bill has done. I don't know Bill personally,Never visited his shop, but I do know that he has employees that need to take home a pay check. If he breaks even after he pays his help.. he is accomplishing something phenominal!

Including the cost of the car, I probably have close to 17,000 in mine now, not counting my labor, and believe me I have a lot of my labor in it. I would still consider it a #3 car. It's decent but still needs a lot of work. Ask Bill, he knows my car and I have got some stuff from him as many others in the club. He has seen it evolve over the two years and it is far from done, but far better than it was. There is no way you can restore a car yourself for what you can buy one for. The catch is, the quality of the restoration, was it done the way YOU would have done it, are you capable of doing automotive work, and last but not least the love of the sport. Some like working on them themselves and some are just enthusiast.
