Also Learned That My Good Friend And Customer Mike Cherry Of Park City Utah Was Elected President. The Club Will Be In Good Hands For Another Year. Happy Hudsoning, Bill Albright

Bill, Just want to correct you, I did not win the award, Russell Maas my son won the award. I couldn't be more proud and amazed at what he has done in the last four years with the projects he has undertaken, and it was you and the award that was the incentive for him to do do this. Four years ago he didi a'54 four door sedan, three years ago a 46 truck, two years ago he built a new home playing the general contractor himself and doing much of the work himself, and this year completing the 54 coupe he entered for the award. He has taken on a 50 convertible project that when I saw it Ithought he lost his mind, but I believe it will be completed and entered in next years award. Because of you many hudsons are saved and restored and make the national meets. We thank you.

Please don't forget the fact that it truly sounds like you guys are doing your part to save hudsons as well. While the sheer volume of Bill's legacy, is tough to beat, sounds like you guys are doing your fair share. Not only on the restoration end, but the fact that you offer services and parts that are otherwise difficult to find.

After reading the rules sadly my 49 will not comply :(

But what about the Hudson PT engine? Would that qualify as a Hudson motor in a Hudson car? ;)

Really though - congrats to Russell!

Restorations are tough and a lot more work and stress than doing a custom. And it sounds like he's been busy the last couple of years! It's good to see hard working people get some recognition for their efforts.

If everything goes according to plan, I will be entering my '51 Hornet sedan next year. It has a LONG way to go, considering that I just got it in prime! The good news is that I have all of the stainless and all of the chrome is replated and waiting to go on the car. I have been wet sanding for two weeks now. My job seems to be getting in the way! As long as I can put paint to it before the snow flies, I will make it.

You guys had better be prepared to be challenged. My last (04 at Pitt) award is gone, and I'm doing the 40 Victoria Eight coupe for 08 after I get the 46 truck out of the garage.

Competition is a good thing... However, once a person and their car are qualified - it looks to be the 'luck of the draw'.

The end result (i.e., a nice ride & a Hudson restored) is the most important part. Good luck to all!

The above link no longer works. I was reading in the current issue of WTN about the Albright Award. As a newcomer, I'm just curious as to what it is???

Anyone know of an active link that explains the award, or can offer an explanation themselves?

    Cheers,

Not sure about the current link Jason but the award is a cash prize, chosen at random (not judged) for a restored Hudson (no hot rods) in which the majority of the restoration work was done in the last year. The purpose is to encourage more members to finish their projects and get their Hudson's back on the road and potentially offset some of the cost of the restoration for the lucky winner. You have to fill out an entry form and get your restored car to the HET Club National... in Pontiac MI. this coming year.

I Dont Know How This Old Link Came Up But Will Comment. I Made It To Marlborough This Year For The Drawing And A Little Metro Won The Drawing. Only Proves Any Restored Hudson Product Can Win. I Hope We Have Two Dozen Or More At Detroit In 09. I Have Made Hotel Reservations For Me And My Grandson. Hope To See You All Ther In 09, Bill Albright

    Jason,
That link was from the 2006 National. Apparently, it has been removed. Since this is an annual event at each National, seems like it would (should) have a permanent place somewhere on the http://hudsonclub.org website.

The Hudson Club page is where a web site for upcoming Nationals should be posted.

In the case of the 2008 National, I didn't know about that arrangement, so made up our own website at Freewebs.com. The web master who maintains the Hudson Club home page simply linked that site to mine and anyone could access it.

I don't know if the Home Chapter is going to have a web site, either on the club home site or their own linked there-in. If they were going to, it should have been up by now, but maybe they are waiting for the registration form to come out in the WTN.

We had a lot of info to put out, so had the 2008 site up and running shortly after the 2007 National.

The 2008 site has been deleted.

Gotch Rick - I just brought up that the 2008 was still up as an example that either the Home Chapter wasn't going to have a web site, or somebody's a little slow.
