Autos found after 30 years in box car
-
Members:
Some years ago I heard a story about rail car that had been missing for about 30 years that had resurfaced. When the rail car was opened, it was discovered to contain six Hudson automobiles of 1940s vintage. Apparently, the rail car was discovered in the 1970s and the autos were shipped when new. Any truth to this story? Has anyone heard this one before. Thanks.

There has been a suggestion on a railroad forum that the cars were Packards and the guy who owns the cars is in Kentucky. He apparently bought an old Pennsylvania RR boxcar for $50 and the railcar contained two Packards. There was an article in the June 2001 issue of TRAINS Magazine. Still looking it up.
