Fellas
Had a bit of bad luck yesterday. Drove my 40 to the car show in Carlsbad. Ran fine all the way there,but about 5:00 we went go home and it just turned over. Checked the spark and had none comming from the coil. Searched the net and didn't find any coils. Would anyone here happen to have one they would sell, or come up with some other reaon why I have no spark. I'm getting desperate due to the fact I was planning on driving it to Albq. Thursday,this week. Any help at all is very appereciated.

A bad condenser would give the same symptoms. Check out your condenser. -
Have you checked everything in the ignition area? Voltage at the coil terminal, good connection to the distributor, clean points? As mentioned above, the condensor could be the problem. If the coil is indeed shot all you need is a standard 12 volt coil that is designed to be used with a ballast resistor. These run on 6 volts, but of course you don't use any sort of ballast resistor.If you're stuck in a hole, stop digging.

i have a 6 volt coil that is new. I bought it from Carquest a couple of years ago for an old vette.The one that is in the hudson has only one connection that goes to the distributor And then a thick cable that comes out of the other end of the coil and goes through the firewall and (I think) connects to the ignition switch. How would you hook up a standard coil to replace the one I have? Also I had just replaced the points, rotor and condenser last week. I checked the points and they are still set and I had another condenser that I changed out. Still no luck

Did they check the book or computer? Your Hudson coil probley has 1 wire terminal on one end that is from the ign switch. 1 wire terminal and the hi tension from the other end. Dont think you will find a coil made like your old coil unless it is a nos or old used one. -

Not gonna find an original one , and if a new old stock did turn up it'd cost you $$$ to get it . you can use any coil that does not have a bulit in resistor . -
Folks, Tim Cheney and Dave Kostansek, long time HET members and suppliers of Hudson tune-up, brake and other parts, sell replacement coils for our Hudsons for $16. These guys usually have the lowest prices around for this stuff, and they're honest as the day is long (or hot!). Call them and it's likely the part will ship out the same day. You'll get their complete parts and prices list with your part. (440) 994-9173, or if no answer, (440) 293-4079. (Ohio). Let's patronize these faithful suppliers whever possible. Stan, as for the positive ground, just be sure you connect the wires to the coil so the + terminal goes to the distributor.

Thanks alot for all the comments and help. There is a lot of knowledge on this forum. I just got off the phone with Dave in Ohio. The replacement was 16.00 and of course shipping was a lot higher, but I need it by Wed.
Great guy to talk to and very trusting.He will mail the part today and I will mail him a check today. He has all my orders from today on. Thanks again for all your help
