49 to 53 Ford/Mercury Overdrive tranny
-
I thought I had a T-85 Overdrive transmission.. WRONG!.. It's a 49-53 Ford/Mercury B/W Overdrive. Complete with Solenoid,Governor, reverse lockout switch. All you would need is a shorter Drive shaft, a cable to actuate it and a couple switches and a relay to be in business. Appears to have a 12 volt solenoid, but I'm really not sure. It's in Florida and in my way. make me an offer. Or trade for Hudson Transmission. It may even fit some Lincoln models?

49 to 51 Mercs a different trans from the 52 to 4 unit and the 49 to 54 Ford trans. The 49 to 51 Merc unit has a bolt pattern like the fords thru 48 and also has the large input shaft/clutch spline, they don't interchange. The T-85 trans has a side cover that is curved on the bottom, the Ford built trans has a rectangular side cover with straight edges, and the T-86 used in the later Fords dosent have a side cover but a top cover. Also the Warner transmissions have the model # cast in the right side of the main case.
