pontiac 389 motor/trans question

hey guys. I just picked up a 59 starchief and want to put in a different trans. anyone know what will bolt up to the 389 motor. or know anyone who has done it before. I don't need any personal preferences for a tranny, just need one that will work, besides stock, thank you

Some engine details were changed in 64 and they went to a turbo hydro in 65. Believe part of the crank balance was on the flywheel on your engine, not sure about the ones w/ the turbo hydro. The same basic engine was used into the 80s I think and it dates back to 55.

check out WILCAP adapters, they have what you need but it isn`t cheep. good luck
