Anyone interested in a Flat Trunk lid 38 37
-
I have a solid Flat trunk lid for a 1938 Hudson Sedan. It is complete with Handles and emblem (Emblem has dents but isn't junk) . Now I believe it will fit 1938 Terraplane and also 1937 H&T but the emblem holes will be different. PM if there is any interest. side note..I can probably meet someone between NY PA OH MI IN. in my travels.

Any interest at all? maybe you want to replace your bubble trunk to the flat.
-
It'll fit '37 for sure, and should fit '39-'40 as well. Same body shell. I replaced a '38 "touring" trunk lid with one from a '37 way back when. Just liked the looks of the '37 one better.
-
Also fits the 36 models for sure
-
You sure on the '36? The '37, even though it looks nearly identical to the '36, is bigger in nearly every dimension. There is not a lot that truly interchanges between '36 and '37, from everything I've ever been told.
I wouldn't mind having a spare, but shipping...!"The time has come", the Walrus said, "to speak of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings..." -
I sold the bubble lid from my 37 to a guy with a 36,. He's going to have both, likes the flat , then when he takes the family for a wknd he pops the bubble back on for more lugage space.. The 36 has the tail lights on the trunk lid --the 37 0n the fender , that is the only differance. I shipped a couple lids via Greyhond at about $50. Just wrapped them in heavy card board, no problem with damage . BUD

The lid will fit 38 and fit 37 . 1939 and 40 are different. The 37-38 are more of a sweeping lid while 39 40 are not. If you look at the rear view of the 37 Bill A has for sale than look at the Butler book there are photos of both a 39 and 40 rear. It Will NOT fit a 36. As Patrick mentioned the 36 is totally different being much smaller narrower ect ect. The body of a 37 was 5 inches wider than 36 and wheelbase was 2 inches longer among other major changes. The lid I have is off a 38 Hudson and it does have the handles and the emblem on it. The emblem is banged up but is still very usable.

OK on the 36-37 if you say so ,but some body has his car titled wrong then, he sent me pics with the diff lids in place on the back.
Lets try this , On my 37 the trunk lid OPENING measured metal to metal {not the overall lid area } at the leval of the gas fill tube is 44 3/4 inches straight accross---at the center up and down it is 29 inchs metal to metal. BUD -

----How does this compare with the 36 and 38 madels ?? -
36--37--38 Terraplane trunk lids
Another guy and I just measured the flat style lid itself---his a 36---mine a 37--they measure the same.
