AMC Ambassador '63

Hi, my father owns a 1963 AMC Ambassador (Rambler) 2-dr which according to the little research I've done is quite rare. It's in impeccable condition and we still have all the original parts, etc.; the only thing is that it could use a little work on the inside, but the paint is new and it really is just in great shape (runs great, etc.).

How do I go about finding info on how to price it, since we are looking to sell it due to some unfavorable circumstances?

    Any tips are greatly appreciated.

You might check a place like www.Hemmings.com , which is an old-car classified ads magazine with a large circulation. You could at least see what people are asking for similar cars to yours. (Whether they actually get the asking price, is another matter....) You could also check Ebay to see what people are actually paying for these cars. While you could check one of the several old-car pricing guides, they tend not to be that accurate. Look at the top of this page, and click the PRICE GUIDE link, to see one such pricing guide.

You may also want to check with some Marque specific clubs. They will be able to tune you into prices for these cars.

You can post it for sale on the AMC forums. They have a lot of members from the national clubs who will be able to give you a good idea on price. It will depend on the overall condition, body style and engine/trans attachments.

    Here are the urls:

www.theamcforum.com (click the 'visit amc forums' link)

www.amccars.net (click the 'message forums' link)

    Good luck!

Use the link from this website on the upper right where it says "Pricing" It takes you the NADA.com. Try http://www.vmrintl.com/ also and http://www.antiquecar.com/resources/appraisals.php

It is important to study condition guide- a scant few museum cars are in the "#1" or "highest" category.

I bought a 1963 Ambassador 880 brand new from Bill Myers in LaSalle, IL. Last I saw of it was about 1983 in Peru, IL.

I always thought I'd like to trace it down, if I could. It was Valencia Ivory with a gold interior, PS/PB/AT

    Where is yours at?
