1954 Merc Monterey
-
I am helping a friend re-wire this Merc and we and have a stumbling block. Everything on the car works fine except the reverse lights. I was wondering if back in the day if the reverse lights were somehow
tied into the headlight circuit ???? Right now the
only way we can get the reverse lights to come on is when we put the car in revese and the headlight switch is in the ON position. In other words, they would only work " at night". Is that possible or is there a wiring problem somewhere
Thanks -
My 55 Fords back up lights are wired the same way,all you need to do is find the wire and hook it to the ignition switch on the accessory side then it will always have power when the car is running but a inline fuse on it. That is what I will be doing to my 55 when I get around to it. Jeff

My 53 Merc and 54 Lincoln are wired that way. Guess FOMOCO thought the back up lights were for night time only. Weird, but that is what the manuals show.
