I do remember I was a senior in high school, but that's about it. Or was that the date Mary Lou..................never mind.

Yeah that was the date The Hudson Motor Car Company merged with Nash-Kelvinator Corporation forming the American Motors Corporation.

We had an old kelvinator refer. It sat outside for years and allways kept the beer cold . If we made them that good know we could put everyone out of work, and not have to worry about exporting jobs. I wonder? John drivergo2:(

On January 14, 1954 I was a (fairly) freshly-minted eight-year-old trying to get along in a new school and city (Muncie, Indiana). My grandmother in New York owned a '48 Hudson at the time, which I thought was waay cool, but "American Motors" would have meant nothing to me. A '37 Terraplane (which I also would have flipped over) was still 17-1/2 years in the future.

I have 52 Crosley refrigerator that still keeps the beer cold and has never had the refrigeration system serviced in any way other than a new electric cord. Too bad the car wasn't built that tough.:eek:

I have a crosley refrigerator too, early 50's Keep it full of beer, you can't even here it run.

The cars were tougher than you think, the motors have 5 main bearings. When they raced them in TQ midgets, they would easily turn 10,000 rpms.

As for the rest of the car, they just didn't get any respect. but they do now. They are a lot of fun!

I was only four back then. I don't remember the merger. I do remember Sunday trips to grandmas in the back seat of my dad's '48 Hudson.

Life was so much simpler back then. Those were the days.
