Extra Axles & Wheels

Before I do something dumb with irreplacable parts, I'm looking for a 2nd opinion.

I acquired two sets of wheel & axle assemblies when I picked-up a spare 1929 Essex engine. It also came with a rusted 2nd engine block.

Before I head to the dump with the rear axles and wooden wheels, I'm wondering if there is any reason to try to save them? Plan to save the front axle assembly in case I get into an accident someday.

I plan to strip the 2nd spare engine of whatever can easily be unscrewed (manifold, oil pan, timing chain-hopefully) and then dump it. Has an original 2-blade fan. Since it is rusted pretty solid, I can't see anyone wanting it and it is very heavy. Also have no way of confirming the year but I looks roughly like my '29.

Since I have wire wheels, I'm going to put the 5 mounted Firestone tires, tubes & rims on e-bay but I don't know why I'd keep the wheels, axles, driveshaft and differentials? They are so heavy that I don't want to have them sitting around.

    It looks like this: http://www.tradeslang.com/essex/Photos/DSC00466.JPG

    Any thoughts???

Thank You for the encouragement to save the parts and advice on posting their availability.

I hired a helper and found safe storage for three of the four wheelsets. Two front and one rear plus the driveshaft. One complete set is available if you can pick them up in Long Island, NY. Bring a helper. Contact me offline at erbpartners@gmail.com

I stripped the rusted 2nd engine but was held-up at the pistons being rusted in place thus making it impossible to get out the head, cam or connecting rods. So, the rusted remains of that engine goes to the dump.

I'm working toward creating an HTML version of the detailed parts manual using photos of these spare parts plus whatever other parts photos appear on the web. The goal is to create a resource similar to what is available for the Fords, etc so when the next guy comes along to rebuild one of these orphans, there is a photo dataset including where to source crossover items or modern replacements.

Freind, don't know what you tried on freeing up the engine but there are few that can't be done with determination. GIVE IT TO SOMEBODY THAT"LL HAUL IT OFF. please don't be in too big a rush, give it a few days. Remember, when it hits the dump it's gone forever !!
