Got ready to put #1 back in to the 37 Terraplane Doodlebug and the rod is bent so bad it's been hitting the camshaft.

Anybody have a right hand '35 to '37one that's usable? It's the shimmed variety and is used in positions 1,2 and 5.

Somebody must have put that rod in there as that engine has never had a wreck that bad.

    What size is the journal?

I opened this thread thinking perhaps Uncle Josh had taken some pieces from his "Woods of Wonders" - and constructed a "Rod".

I'm sure he would build a good one if so inclined.

I have what's left of a '37 t-plane engine I was taking a couple of parts off of for other fellas. I'm mostly finding rust so far and broken bits so far, but if the rods are intact and what you need, it's yours.

OK boozoo. Thanks for the consideration. If you get #1 rod, cap and piston out I could use it. This piston has a crack but I'd use it if I had to. The old doodlebug will probably never see over 1500 rpm anyway. With the front tranny in 1st and the rear one in granny, it'll pull the house off the foundation at idle.

email at HETcramerlp@frontiernet.net and remove the HET. Thanks.

OK... I'm about halfway into taking it apart... with any luck I can get the bottom end apart tonight and let you know.

mine is HETdgw@comcast.net (also drop the HET), in case you need it.

Hey Josh - just keeping you updated.... I had to work late again the last couple of nights, but I did manage to get the bottom end opened up and so far it looks ok. With any luck at all I can get it popped out tonight.

Got it out. Let me know where to send it. The piston came out pretty easy, so it should be in decent shape for you.

I could pick it up at Auburn if you want. I'll have my Uncle Josh or Vintage Truck hat on most of the time and/or a 47 pickup on a Vintage Truck shirt., or a maroon 'You're ahead when you haul in a Hudson shirt.'
