Need WA-1 968S metering rods
-
I am re-building two Carter 968S carbs that are fitted with #75-862 metering rods. These are the "2 sizes lean" rods best suited for use at higher elevations (above 5000 ft). I am in need of two #75-834 "standard" rods as replacements. Any idea where I can buy these items? Or make a trade for the lean set? Thanks for your help. ArtS

Art, I used to fill in the Brass jets with Lead-solder and re-drill them. Also we dipped the Rods in melted solder to make them larger. When we dipped them ,you dip and pull the rod out of the solder very quickly, let cool then dip again until you get the size you want. ( the rod dipping works best because it will be uniform on the rod. May sound Crude but it works) Try it on a brass rod and see for yourself )
There was an Article about this fix in an old auto Mag back in the 60s ?
Al local Hud owner had a Hornet a few years back that had this treetment done to the WA-1s But sold it some time back.
Hope this helps Rudy
