1950 Trans. change
-
Hello,
I have a good friend who owns a 1950 Ford 4dr sedan. The car has the V8 flathead with a 3spd manual trans w/the "auto OD". He desperatley wants to change the vehicle over to an automatic trans. I've done some searching and have come up with nothing really. As far as I can tell, there was no automatic produced for that car. Are there any aftermarket bellhousing that allow hookup of a modern auto trans? Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks...

I don't know of a direct swap for you car but you may want to try to join or contact someone in a Ford club for the best answers.
I'm sure that with the right fabrication, anything can be done.

There are kits made to put a C-4 behind the flathead, speedway I think is one vendor that sells the kit. I think the kits come with a 12 volt starter so it might be more work then its worth,51s came out with a automatic so there might be another way to go. Jeff
