Found my next project - '69 Lincoln - lots of pics!
-
Well, I found what I was looking for! A 1969 about 30 or 45 minutes up the road from me. It's been parked for 15 years, since the owner dropped in a rebuilt 460, and never even hooked it up.
First, from the front, and yes, I do have the "N" - it was on the ground in front of the car!:

The top is trashed, but I am planning on pulling it off and painting it instead, so no big deal there.
There are 3 major rust issues, 2 corners:

And this one - I don't know how this happened - is it a typical spot, anyone?

The best part is the interior - it's REALLY dirty, but in great shape - original leather and everything! Anyone have advice on the best cleaner and conditioner to use on it?
I think the carpet is dead, but again, no big deal - I wnated to Dynomat the heck out of it anyways.
The dash has 2 cracks in it, but that's all - not too bad.
The engine is covered in leaves, but it turns by hand easily, so I have alot hope for it. Like I said, it supposedly is a "fresh" rebuild. The radiator, fan and shroud are in the back seat.
The best part is the guy only wants $1000 for it! and for another $50, he'll deliver to me on a flat bed! I'm getting it next weekend, and I am REALLY STOKED!
So, what do you guys think?
Josh -
Well Josh,
I'm glad that you found something that you like and can get excited about.
The spots that rot out are the places that dirt, mud, salt from the highways and debris will get settled into. Thes spots are very typical. The one on the fender looks as though it was for an antenna maybe.
Best of luck with the car and I hope you get many happy miles out of it.
Ron -
like ron said, those areas and under the vinyl top are the biggest rot spots on any older car. but from the photos they don't look too bad. i had gotten some doors for my 60 c10 had lots of bondo and body rot. they were sooooo bad that the bottom of the inside of the doors were completely rotted away. but it looks like you found yourself one hell of a gem. happy hotrodding/low riding
