Maybe this would be a nice time to talk about what colors or finishes the equipment was originaly. My pieces are just surface rust and I don't have a clue what they might have looked like when the car was new. Does anyone have any info on the subject?

All of the Supermatic parts are matte silver. You can get very close by just sandblasting and then clear coating them with clear enamel or lacquer. I will post a picture when I get a chance.

That is way cool! Too bad the prior owner of my '50 Commodore 6 removed it! George Schmidt has a good article on it in the latest WTN.

Like I said previous, i got all of the stuff for my supermatic, for my 50. I wouldn't dream of putting that headache back on my car. It would get a 350 before the supermatic goes back on. And you guys know how I feel about that...

I can find a 350 you can have! I'm still looking for the OD trans.

In any case that is one fine job on that supermatic pictured in the post

I'm sure when it works right it's great but there's a lot of adjustments and linkages and whatnot. Someone told me a lot of them didn't work right when the cars were new because they weren't serviced correctly and a lot of owners simply disconnected them. I'm going to attempt to get tthe drivemaster working properly on my '47 C8 sedan.

Hudsonkid, Thanks for the help getting the pictures up and running. I seem to have problems shrinking the file... Whats the trick ? When I try to upload the attachment from the file I get a msg that says file exceeds 97 mb will not allow. Is there a way to shrink the file so that the sight will upload ? What's the secret ? Thanks again Harrry54

The problem with that picture is that Hudson's were meant to be "DRIVEN"! One turn around the block and that unit wouldn't look like that again. I agree that they were problematic when new. I remember my father working on them a week after they left the dealers floor. Especially a 1948 commadore coup with a red leather interior. Man was that pretty.

Well, not to take undo credit, but that picture I linked is mine, shot at the 2004 Hudson national. BTW, I think that car was driven to the show.

I can post your picture, but I need you to send it to me first.
