New Hudson owner needs parts
-
Hi all-
I just bought a 1950 Pacemaker 2 dr Coupe with the longer back side glass. I think it is a long wheelbase model. It's my first Hudson and (along with the 52 Hornet I acquired at the same time) I don't know much about the models and their differences. I have tried to post pics but I can't figure it out.
Anyways, this car is a basketcase, but it's all there -- and basically needs new floors and frame work. It also needs rocker panels. I did a search on this site and found that the rockers and front floors are reproduced, are there any other sheet metal/frame pieces repoped? Or does anyone have any pieces lying around?
I didn't realize that there are two different wheelbases. How do you decipher the VIN number or serial number to know which model you have?
Thanks for any help-

We have over 20 parts for you car on our online store. Several are NOS. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Look inside the passenger side doors. On the cowl piller near the hinge. There should be a small metal plate rivited there. Post the numbers you find here on the forum. Most of us can give you the information from there. Your Pacemaker is the shorter wheelbase car, the Hornet is longer. The difference is in the front. Look at the firewalls on both cars and you will see how it was done. Welcome to the Hudson group. If you haven't joined the H.E.T. Club, please do...and join a local chapter.

Thanks -- I'll check it out.
I have joined the HET club, but I have not yet joined a local chapter. But I do plan on doing so.

If you have "longer side windows" you probably have a brougham (aka 2 dr sedan). The serial number would confirm what model it is but only a picture would confirm body style. I had a 1950 brougham that was in a wreck and have some parts from it. No frame members though. As indictated in SuperDave's post, a Pacemaker would be the shorter wheelbase 6 inches shorter from the cowl forward at 119" the Hornet would be 124"

Sounds like a brougham. I have a front clip (minus the suspension) for a Pace, it will just need a small section on the bottom (I think about 3") of the frame (goes from the rails to the passenger side outer frame rail. Mines a '50 Pacemaker Club Coupe (shorter quarter windows), but might have some parts for ya as time goes on.
Let us know exactly what you're looking for and where you are located, and I'm sure there will be someone around here who will be able to help you out. And post the VIN too.
Good luck,

Take a real good look at Dan's website for rust repair issues. He's signed on here as Rambo's Ride and there is a link on his posts. There is also a good article on Ken Cate's website. Again, a link is on his posts.
