I have to agree with an earlier post; the mid to late 70's Montego/Granada/T-bird's, et.

On the big cars, the "Car-as-a-Casket" motif at least seemed to work. Or, at least- you got it. The little cars were downright laughable.

    I stand corrected -

Those things that look like exhaust pipes coming out of the the rear fenders are actually lights...

I'm afraid that I have to say that the 1957 Packard hawk is one of the ugliest cars ever made. Since the 57 Packards were just re-labeled Studebakers they added some strange looking chrome trim and a bizarre lip like opening for the grill that looked just plain stupid. It's no wonder they called them Packard-Bakers

I love most Packards the 1937 120 2 door with a rumble seat is what I would love to have as a daily driver or a 1936 V-12 convertible sedan, if I could keep it in gas!

It was not intended to be a compliment.

My vote for second place in the ugly car race would be the Rambler Marlin!

Third has to go to the pacer

I think that the Subaru B9 Tribeca is one of the ugliest cars. It looks like a custom shop mixed a 58 Edsel with one of those "box" Scions, and then put a lift kit. Now, although I like the Edsel, I think the Edsel styling that they put on the B9 Tribeca really looks bad on a SUV. And didn't they think that after how poorly the Edsel sold back in 1958 (and they really don't sell that great even today, at least from what I hear) the B9 Tribeca would sell badly, too. Maybe that's why I have only seen a few on the road, and I don't see the commercials for them anymore.

Hi, Maybe "back east" or in California, the Aztec and Tribeca are ugly, but here in farm country, where distances are long, they both were(and are) very practical vehicles, that get great fuel economey. And the Aztec came with a "hard rubber" floor in the rear. I had to take a small minature horse to the vet in the back of my Aztec, at 80 plus miles an hour, and then washed out the rear with a hose. Unfortunataly, the horse passed on to his reward. Steve.

My bid goes to the 1957 Citroen DS. That was one ugly car!

Almost as ugly as the Citroen 2CV.

I gotta say, you must be on drugs.

That car isn't ugly; it's just weird. You know how sometimes a new model takes some getting used to before you can appreciate it... then it seems fine, when you used to think of it as ugly. I reckon you just never got used to the DS.

Which is understandable, I guess, since noone ever jumped on that bandwagon...

But anyway, here's the reason I'm posting here at all. I found this thread Googling for the world's ugliest car, since I'm trying to find out exactly what this is...

    mysterycar12.jpg

    Looks like a Powell Homer.

More details coming to light (it's in a 'guess the car' thread on another forum):

It was produced in limited numbers, thankfully.

It was billed as a "safety car" and was built on a truck chassis with 20" wheels.

The one-and-only door was at the rear.

The dashboard was walnut inlaid with gold ( ! ), upholstery was velvet, and the carpets were Ming-patterned. Sounds more like the inside of a house. When you opened the door, steps would lower to make entry easier.

    Mechanicals were by International Harvester.

    Bwaaaahahahahaha

...Here we go: Mohs Ostentatienne Opera Sedan. Pffficon10.gif

Oops, that link's bung, and the edit button disappeared...

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohs_Automobile

The Ostentatienne Opera Sedan was offered at a F.O.B. price of $19,600 (1967), had a weight of 5,740 lb (2,600 kg), and sat on a 119 in (3.02 m) wheelbase. Prices have also been quoted at $25,600. [1] Tires for the vehicle were nitrogen filled 7.50”x20” (USA). The Ostentatienne was powered by an International Harvester truck engine. Entry into the car was from the rear; solid steel side rails (designed to protect passengers during a crash) prevented doors along the vehicles sides. The Ostentatienne could be ordered customized to suit its buyer’s wishes; Ming styled oriental rugs, refrigerators and sealed beam taillights were some of the options available. Production is estimated at three to four vehicles per year.

well my thoughts on the aztec are from a by-stander's point of view and a mechanics since i have had the "privilege" of working on a few in my days of working at the dealership that my dad works at. i'm not denouncing its usability or practical use of it, i'm sure that it does what's needed of it, i'm just sayin its ugly. my regards to your horse by the way PIERCEARROW1935
