Here's the Ebay link -

This was the first Hudson pickup that I considered purchasing. The seller has been advertising it for quite some time at $14,900 (see below). It has also been on advertised on at least one other internet site, @ $16,900.
You'll find the truck still for sale here -
http://classiccar.chooseyouritem.com/classics/files/28500/28522.html
I still have those photos that were posted, and some additional ones that were not put into the Ebay offer.
Notice the dust - And these pictures are now at least 2 years old, to include the ones in the Ebay offer...
Those are 'dryer sheets' ... Not sure why they are there.

I was initially told it was running, however half-way into the discussions, I was told that it would need to be transported as a non-operational vehicle.
A couple of other, minor points - The "Hudson Super Six" logo is missing from the hood (both sides), no hubcaps, etc... As you can see from the interior shot, the seat is covered with what appears to be a blanket.
This may be a 'project vehicle' (as it is not fully finished, and whether it actually is running is somewhat questionable), but the work appears to be well done. I recall that the seller said it was NOT a frame-off restoration.
My guess is that that the reserve will not be met...
BTW - There is a stepdown in the background in the interior photo on the Ebay offer, it was also for sale (at the time I was considering the purchase of the truck). -
In answer to the dryer sheets question, it is an old trick. Mice hate the stuff. Best thing to keep out mice. Throw some on the seat and floor of your cars that are vulnerable. It works great and does not smell half bad....dont get the unscented.

I wa also told once that they can help to get rid of some odors.

Almost forgot... Looks like the truck has the wrong runningboards installed (too short?), probably from a sedan (?) -runningboard_115302759946498.JPG684 x 410 - 26K

Depends on what you are looking for... Comparing this pickup to Bill's is like apples & oranges - Bill's is a modified, this one is not. Nothing for or against either pickup, you just need to take a good long look at what you want from your purchase, and make your decision based on that.dermott wrote:thanks for info. there is this one at *$16 thou, but i look at bill,s and fell in love. but is not selling that one. i got a call about a 46 big boy near niagra falls ontario, looking for two front fenders, is there any swaps as in a 46 ...... fender will fit the big boy p.u. ?. he is getting sick of looking and may consider selling. this is how i got my 37 t-plane coupe, waited about 5 years. found it , lost it, moved and really lost contact. then out of the blue the guy was feed up and had a $5 bill w/ my bus. number and e-mail. told him to keep it untill he sells but, i wanna be numero uno. true story. now the big boy is of sight unseen so far, i need to wait, i understand in 2009 we are going to detroit for 100 years of hudson, any info/dates ? thanks, dermot.
As far as finding front fenders, it should be fairly easy. Your friend doesn't need to look for 'pickup' front fenders, just about any 46-47 Hudson front fenders will do. Essentially, all of the Hudson car parts will work on the pickups, and are interchangeable. Engine, transmission, rearend, suspension parts, even the rear fenders from a car can be made to work on the pickup.
Just an fyi - I have had contact with a person who has a fully restored 1946 Hudson Pickup that he will be selling soon. I don't have too many details on it - but I understand he is looking for around $16,500 for it. He is supposed to be sending me photos soon. -
thank you i will look for them. bill does have a great collection, if i ever get to calif. i gotta see this. there is a gentleman named headly bennet that has a huge yard of hudson stuff, he is closer. about 3-4 hours drive. a 37 p.u. ? , hard to find/expensive/rare ?? would look great with my coupe. dermott.

You don't see too many of the 30's Hudson trucks, pickups or other commercial vehicles. Any found are 'gems', even if found in the 'rough'.
If you have the information on Headly Bennet (location of yard, phone number), I am sure we all would be interested in seeing what he has.
Here are the pictures from that person who says he will be selling his truck soon... He already has some Hudson items for sale on Ebay, so I have little doubt that he is sincere about selling. I had to reduce the size of the photos, as they were 1.5MB each, way too large to be posted -

BTW - Hudson 'dropped' the "Big Boy" phrase after the 1942 model year. There was only one model of pickup for 1946-1947, the 3/4 ton, 128" WB pickup. The term 'Big Boy' seems to 'cling' to the 1946-1947 trucks, although I have not been able to find a single instance where it was used in any Hudson description or advertising for those years. -
Back to the original "subject" truck for sale on Ebay -

It appears that the owner's son posted the truck for sale, for dad -
I sent a couple of inquiries asking for updated interior and engine pictures, as well as asking about the age of the photos & work done, as well as the 'gap' between the running board & the fender (shown in one of my previous posts to this thread)...
First response:
"It is my father's truck and I am not sure of the date that it was done but it was a few years ago and it has been in storage since. Pictures are recent. Interior has new carpet, door panels, and a seat cover. The bed is ready for wood and the bed frame has been undercoated. Interior of the box was painted and with no dents /scratches. Looking forward to your first bid."
Second response:
"The running board runs from the rear of the front fender to the front of the rear fender as it did from the date of manufacture. This is the orginal running board. Looking forward to your first bid. There is a Hudson truck in Fargo ND that is solid but not rust free, item number 232c in a classic car ad. Thank you and goodbye"
Guess I struck some 'nerves' with my questions -
Well - As long as my bridges appeared to be already 'burned', I stated -
- No person should bid on any auction, until all questions have been answered;
- That the pictures that were posted are known to be at least 2 years old (i.e., not recent);
And, just as an FYI, I stated that - The Hudson Club does not do judging & never has, so it is unlikely that the placard they have (?) is from a "Hudson Show". -
sounds like he needs a few more people to ask him some questions. lol
-
They've posted some engine pictures... Looks like they were embarassed about the dust and washed the engine compartment down...

Before (my old picture...)

After - Notice that the engine, hoses, radiator & even generator are still wet...
My guess is that the engine hasn't even been 'cranked' since the first photo was taken. I find it very unusual that the fan is in the same position in both photos...
Updated comments from the seller - "...regarding selling my Hudson, should it not sell, then I will do the two minor items, and take to Scottsdale AZ for the Barrett Jackson Auction, in Feb....however it has a very reasonable reserve on it, compared to the junk thats out there....thks".
I wish them 'good luck' @ B-J's. -
Just ended. $10,000 - Reserve not met.
