Gas Tank question
-
Hello,
We have a 1952 Chevy 3100 Pickup truck. I have read a few things about moving the gas tank out of the cab and placing it under the truckbed.
Does anyone have any info on if this is a good idea safety wise or just another modification builders like to do? -
There are, I believe, kits for doing that move.
If it was my truck, I'd do it for safety reasons, If you rolled it, the cap would probably come off, or be knocked off. or if you were to be hit broadside hard enough, the tank coupld easily rupture, covering you with gas. And gas fumes could overcome you is something was loose, or the tank had any sort of leak.
Move it. That's what I would do. -
Here's the answer, I have a 1951 3100 1/2 ton street rod. The tank is in the rear
mounted to the frame. The company that sells these tanks is out of Minnesota.
Tanks by Tanks Inc. they come with all the hardware, except for the cap & housing which you
can get from a company called Cool Caps.
