41 Chevy Body Styles
-
I have two 41 Chevy's and am trying to decide which one to restore. Both are 4 door special deluxe sedans, the only difference being that one has rear quarter windows and the other doesn't. Can anyone advise me on which is more sought after, or on where to find production numbers for both body styles?
-
Personally, I'd go with the rarer of the two.
There were 148,661 of the Special Deluxe sport sedans built and 34,162 Special Deluxe Fleetlines. The Fleetline is the one with the rear quarter windows.
Stats:
Wheelbase: 116.0 inches
Weight:
(sport sedan) 3,127 lb.
(Fleetline) 3,130 lb.
Base Price:
(sport sedan ) $851.00
(Fleetline) $877.00
The only engine available was the 216.5 cubic inch straight six. It had a 3.50 inch bore, and a 3.75 inch stroke. It was rated at 90 Bhp.
Hope this helps you. -
I personally preferr the one with the 1/4 windows behind the rear doors. It looks to me to be more elegant then the one with the vent windows in the rear door.
Look at carnut.com and you can see some of these cars in the finished mode.
According to the Standard Catalog of American Cars
Model AG-4-dr. Spt. Sed. - 5 P = 59,538
Model AH-4-dr. Spt. Sed. - 5 P = 148,661
Model AH-4-dr. Sed. - 5 P Fleetline Series = 34,162
Do the one that you like best and pleases you the most.
Most of all, enjoy the journey.
