More Hash 308 questions
-
Have a 308 out of unknown 55 or 56 (no engine number stamped on pad, single carb, twingroove pulley on balancer, was hydromatic)that I want to put in an early stepdown with 3spd OD. I know the mounting plates have to be changed, along with starter, flywheel and clutch. Is the crank ok for this application and will the pulley work? Eventually I'd like to put AC in the car. Any other issues I should know about. Thanks
-
Also need to know how to remove pulley/balancer? Is there a special tool required?
-
Hi,--- You will need at least a 2 jaw puller to remove the vibration dampener after the large nut has been removed.
-
There are bolts in the back of the balancer, leave them in I take it? Thanks
-
Yep... leave 'em in. Those hold the balancer together. The Hash crank will work with a crank spacer available from Dale Cooper or other sources.Workin Stiff

You need early oil pan, also. -

I've got the original '49 262 (cracked block) to donate the pan, mounting plates, clutch, flywheel and starter. Sounds like I need to get the crank adapter and maybe swap the manifolds too? -
I don't recall where a Hash exhaust manifold exits, but swapping the '49 manifolds is straightforward and would guarantee a good fit.Workin Stiff
