Pickup rear fender brace
-
Could anyone provide me with a picture of the rear brace at the bottom rear of a 46, 47 pickup? My pickup was well worn when I got it to the point that the lower section of both fenders was torn, not rotted away. Thanks to a friend with a '46 coupe I've been able to reproduce the bottom section of the fender but would like to make the brace and it's attachment point as close to original as possible. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, kid, I went out to take a pic of my 47PU but there are no braces on it. Here's one from the 40 coupe whose fenders are a little shorter but there should be some tapped holes in the frame to locate the position, and the brace is bolted thru the bottom of the fender roll.

That brace looks very similar to shelf brackets from 40's - 60's here in NZDave Y

Your right. Mine seems to range between 2000 to 4000 pixels. I had no problem posting with my old camera before loosing it. I'll check to see if my computer has Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Maybe the store where I purchased camera can reajust setting to take pictures in the pixel range you mentioned. Thanks.
Can anyone tell me what the squigely line that apears under random words on messages mean or does?

I have a 6.1 Megapixel camera. Some of the new ones are 16 MP. (for only $79) OK if you want wall size murals.
I set the camera at 3 MP and leave it there. They're good enough for Sam to use in the WTN, and they don't constipate emails or this forum. I use them in my monthly rag for the local Hudson Mohawk club with Microsoft Office Publisher, and use the Compress feature before converting to PDF file to send. No problems. -
Hi Lee,
I recently had that problem too. With the same old camera I've always had. I wonder if the change was made somewhere else, not us? Anyhow, what I do is this....
View your pictures on the computer. Left click on the picture you want, or select several by using the "ctrl" button held down as you click your selections. They should now be outlined in blue.
Now right click over one of the pictures and a menu will show up. Select resize photo. Another menu will show up, select small size.
Now look in your pictures again. There should be your original photo and also a duplicate that has in the discription (small). Those are the ones you send. Keep the other original pictures because they will be of better quality, should you need that.
After you do that a couple of times it's easy. -

I tried your suggestion, seems simple enough. But the menu {select resize photo} does not appear on the screen when I get that far. Tried several times.

I tried twice to send you the pictures to post and got a error message both times.

Tried again Rick. This time the message said the server is making the error sending the photos. I'll try again later. -
Thanks for posting the pictures Rick.
Here is some additional information to go with photos.
I can't sware the brackets are original. The first two bracket pictures are from my 1st PU that came from Kansas and the third photo is from my second PU I recently aquired in Winnetka in the San Fernando Valley , Ca. about 7 months ago.
Here are some ruff measurements. The brackets from both trucks are identical. Neither sets are made from angle iron. They are made from one inch wide x 1/8" thick steel. From the top of the bracket to the bottom of brackets 90 degree right angle bend is 11 inches, then another 1" after the bend. This end attachs to fender. The top end of bracket that attaches to frame has 90 degree bend in same direction of lower end. However, the 90 degree angled bend crease starts 1/2" from the top end of bracket and the angled crease stops 2 7/8" from top end. Hard to get more accurate without removing the bracket.
Saturday I'll take a look at my third truck brackets that I got a few weeks ago that I have not brought home yet. It was the truck for sale about 6-8 months ago on the forum with the stretched frame from the George Lauder estate. The frame is lengthened 22" with approx 150" wheel base.
Hope this information is helpful.

Lee....thanks for the dimensional info. That is a huge help.

I think both of those support brackets are factory correct. The "angle iron" (bar stock really, maybe 1/8" X 1" as I remember and Lee said) looking one is the rear of the rear fender support. The stamped one is the rear of the front fender support. Both are just like any I have ever seen, and I've seen more than one like that.

Lee, I think my wife had to download a "photo re-sizer" from microsoft? This should be the link below here. Click on it and download it to your computer. Then when you try what I said to do, once more, the 're-size' option should show up on your menu. I think.
...Can any of you computer guys confirm this?
