"504 Gateway Time-out nginx"
-
All day long yesterday I had trouble tuning in the Classiccar forum. It kept stalling, then I got the screen message "504 Gateway Time-out nginx"
Has anyone else had this problem? It may just be my local internet connection's fault. -
No you aren't alone. I had the same problem until now.Looking for a salty piece of land!

I think it caught a cold (virus) . The day before this all slowed down my computor would not stay on the site. It would work for a short time then kick me off the site . It acted like it was a hostile site,

The problem relates to part of the Web Server (nginx) since they are not running Apache. The more detailed issue relates to some software called PHP. If an instance of PHP gets stalled under nginx, it can hang the whole system.
For some firms, nginx is the better option based on user level over Apache.
I realize this does not fix the problem we are having as users but it provides a very simplistic explanation. -
That confirms my suspicions- it was, indeed, an attack by Apaches. Do they have a long-running feud with the Nginx tribe?
Thanks for the very simplistic explanation, although I don't understand a single word of it. But try me on unlawful detainer or adverse possession- I'm absolutely dynamite on those subjects. -
Travelled down as far as Australia yesterday, must be a fast mover. -
Ahhh But the HET Site was up and running full speed!

All in S F was having the same problem. This AM all was back to normal. Walt

Most of yesterday and today my computer was running very, very slowly. I got the error msg a couple times, but didn't have any real problems with the site. Tonight my computer is running much faster - but I can't say if it was the ClassicCar site or not.

I'm with you Rick, except that it happens quite often on this website only. I had assumed it was as a result of being at the end of a very long piece of electric string!!!Dave Y

My problem was , if I opened something I couldn't get back to the menu.
I just shut it down , works fine now -
I noticed several sites that use (nginx) have drops at 0100 server time.
