Burned out rod on my eight

Recently I mentioned that I burned #5 rod bearing out of my 49 eight. Upon disassembly I found a lump of RTV in the
oil pickup that starved the engine of oil. I shut it down in time to prevent any further damage. I had the crank straightened, magnafluxed and turned at Auto Machine & Parts on Central Ave in Orlando Florida. I highly recommend the place. They actully let me back into the shop to watch a lot of the process. Watching the straightening process is not for the faint of heart! I then sent the badly burned rod to Randy Maas along with the finished crank pin diameter. We determined that although I had a 49 Block, my rods were pre-1940. I would have had a problem finding a matching rod to keep the balance correct. He returned it looking brand new. It fit perfectly and I am now reassembling the parts and have the engine back on it's mounts. If anyone needs rebabbiting, don't hesitate to contact Randy... Support your Hudson folks!!!

Randy, do you or your local machine shop do centrifuge rebabbiting? That is a vanishing art.
