Hudson Engine ID by Casting # ??
-
Hi all. Have been gathering casting numbers and date codes from Hudson engines in my collection.
It seems that this might be an easy way to identify the year of the engine without having to look for the
often hidden or missing engine number.
If any of you wish to add to my database I would be most greatfull. I will share my results with the
club membership , probably through the WTN .
My e-mail HETpinder1@ameritech.net
Thanks for your assistance!

Ric, when you work up a casting numbers chart, it might be something that should go in the online library. Keep us in mind, please. Thank you.

Ric, I have a 1935 Terraplane Model G (I Think) Cab Express 212 Cu. in. Pick up truck. Engine number is 147218. The Vin number on the firewall matches ones stamped on the frame and the front axle.

dterry, Thanks for this info. Is this the stamped engine number, or the raised
character casting number on the drivers side of the crankcase?

Hi all,
Do you need more detail on where to find these casting numbers? Or is this
project not worth doing?? Just fishing for feedback. I know it's cold and snowy,
I can wait till Spring. :)
Thanks.

Casting number on crankcase

Sorry, it is the stamped engine number

Getting Hudson people to participate in projects is like trying to herd cats - it can be done, but it requires a lot of patience!!!! The "I'll get around to it tomorrow" syndrome runs like the plague among Hudson people.

Thanks for the friendly dose of "reality" I realize that winter storage makes this
a long term project. Thanks for your encouragement on this project.
I will share any results with you and HET Club.
