I did a search but cannot find a discussion on fitting modern power windows to a Hudson, particularly a 53 hornet sedan. Of course I'm looking to do the least mod necessary for install. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Try the Hudson street rod forum. That's where they talk about modifying Hudsons .

Buy a Rod and Custom, or Street Rodder magazine at the supermarket- lots of outfits sell a "do it yourself" universal power window kit, that you can use to put power windows on most anything.

Installing Power Windows is pretty easy regarless if stock Hudson or St Rodded... I havent installed in a '53 but have in '37's and '47's Hudson's using different companies Kits but their all the same principle. Buy a good Universal Kit & most come with lighted switches same as modern cars where driver side controls both sides.
Remove your window and the bottom Channel. The new Kit Channel will clamp to your window bottom.
The wiring is all plug & play type connections. (cant mix wiring up). Usually the motor sits down in a corner and needs clamped. The lift mechanism is usually centered and requires an 1/8" X 1" strap across door from front to back to clamp lift.
Will need to drill hole in door to enable wire harness to enter and use templates provided to cut panel for switch fuse to Ign switch and Grd..
If you have good window crank mechanism, JC Whitney offers a Kit to remove your factory handles then install a gear box at the crank that works well. Kit comes with Plugs for the Crank Hole than no need to make the center lift Bracket.. Ive installed both Types bur prefer the center lift.

Thank you very much. I should explain that the reason I'm looking to do this is that my son is intending to use the Hudson as a limo for weddings and anniversaries, etc, and I figure clients in wedding gowns would like power windows to open them and say hi to friends. I plan to use crank handle switches to activate it so original cranks can be used. I want this Hudson to be as original as possible, but with a few modern conveniences and safety items. Thank you all for the advice and comments.

Nice info guys, but is any power window kit easier to install than another, or all easy?

    FYI
All Kits pretty easy using the same principle lifting glass up from center. Electric - Life probably top of Line... However, the very simplist install would be the 'gearbox type' replacing your original crank handles.
