Activity section
-
Recently had one of my PM's moved out of the "Activity" section and was politly told it didnt belong there. Thats all well and good but thats not the first time one of my PM's ended up there. I HAVE NEVER SENT ONE THERE - DONT KNOW HOW TO SEND ONE THERE WHEN SENDING A PM. And have no Idea why PM's dont go thru half the time .
I realy think it wrong to blame us the users for a problem in the system we all complain about,

I agree, it's a sloppy setup and then instead of correcting the problems, some guy messages us to say our messages don't belong in this stupid "activity" dialogue box, and that "activity" dialogue is what pops up when you click on a member's ID to send a private message. it's dumb, but then it is free.......

Roger-
This is one of the biggest complaints that I initially had with this revised forum, which I communicated in great depth with the "powers that be". It was at that time that I nearly decided to drop the forum altogether.
There is a section that appears to be part of the PM-ing, but is not and is actually a POOL area where everyone can see and read what others thought to be Private Messages. We used to be able to send PM's by clicking on someone's "handle", or forum name. Now, that is no longer possible, as the messages you send by that method simply go into the "POOL", which is quite public.
I believe Rick is simply trying to clean up the POOL and protect people's assumed-private messages and everyone's feelings in general.
I also agree with SuperDave and I think we should all go to the HET club forum, which was actually designed with us in mind. -
I have sent a fair number of PM's and it seems to work for me. If you click on a members name, there is a button directly under the avatar picture that I use to send a PM. Do not type in the box that looks like a section to leave a PM, as that will go to the activity section (as it is under the "activity tab"). I agree that there seems to be no purpose for the activity section, but hard to complain when it is free.
I must admit, I click on the activity section to see some of the comments posted there by mistake. It can be very entertaining :)

Okay, then, so then is THIS the right way to send a PM????
1. Click on the username or avatar (of the person you want to PM) which appears next to his posting on the forum.
2. In the page that opens, DIRECTLY UNDER HIS AVATAR will be the statement:
"Send ski4life65 a message". Click on this.
3. A "Start a New Conversation" box appears on the screen. Fill in your message to the recipient and press START CONVERSATION.
Am I right so far?
Now.....where do I go to find the answer to my message, when it is finally made?
(By the way, there is an animated tutorial on how to do a PM at but it shows a different way. You go to your "inbox" and select "start a new conversation". Then you have to type in the username of the person you want to PM, and type in your message. This is NOT user friendly because you must correctly remember and type in the (sometimes complicated) username rather than just clicking on it.

Jon
I sent you a message using what I believe are the correct procedures. Let me know if you got it
