Is there a correct factory location for a washer bottle in a 48-49 Commodore? I am ready to install one and would like it in the correct location. Any pictures out there?
    Thanks

My 49 Commodore came with washers as evidenced by the nozzles on the wiper towers. There are some small holes in the lower right front fender apron exactly where Steve's are. I need the bottle. I have a pump and bracket. Also need the wiper switch with the small "washer" button in the center.

Mine was round.. until it broke! Looks like yours. I can't tell what the shape of your holder is. mine appears to be for a rectangular jar. maybe it's not correct? it didn't come with the car. it is left over from a 54 I had.

    Dave,
My 50C6 had a rectangular holder and a round bottle. It was in the NOS kit I had many years ago from a Hudson dealer. Bruce

my holder is home made from a sample picture from an earlier post on here. the bottles were round and replacements are available from above address. my cover was completely rusted out so i got a new one and base and cleared it with same paint from engine.

The piicture on the left is correct for 48-49 Pump is on top. I've seen 1950's with
both types. Possible use up old inventory before using new style.

I have read that the jar was mounted on the left fender behind the battery and have also read that it mounts on the right fender, did the factory mount them on either side?

The super Jet I have (53) came with the jets installed on the washer towers. The round bottle with vac controls was set in a square metal bracket mounted to the passenger side enter fender. I am not sure this was a factory installed system. Bill

A pic of my '46 with the windshield washer bottle, installed on the left side of the firewall. On subject, but doesn't really apply to your stepdown -

Got the washer jar mounted today. Thanks to all who helped with this project. With this being the 8 cyl I had to move it toward the firewall to give more clearance from the exhaust pipe.

Most of the glass bottles died from frozen fluid or water. So dont forget in winter to empty it or put some non freezing type fluid in it,

In making the change to having the dia in the jar did it improve the pressure,is one better than the another? I don't have the squirters for each tower so I don't know how well this system works.
    Thanks

Thanks for the picture,I found if I mounted it at 4" like it shows it was too close to the Exhaust pipe with the 8 cyl engine.

Thanks Lew for the pic. I printed it and will follow the instructions on it when I'll be ready ( don't know when,,,) to install mine in my 54. It will be very useful. Michel
