Brake linings

I need a set of brake linings for my 34 Hudson project. Looking at the master Chassis book leads me to think they are 33T8, 34H, and 35 H but not all models as Challenger looks like they may be like a 34 T. Anyone know more info than that as I see other years listed on Ebay ETC but nothing that looks like it would work based on what I do know. I need a set if anyone has some or knows of where I can get them that would be a great help. Thanks Mark

I have a 33T8 and I am currently working on a 34 Hudson 8 Std wheelbase so it has the larger 2 3/8thish wide shoes. I think on linings they are the same as my 33T8, but I could be wrong. Mark

Parts book shows same shoes and lining for the '33T8 and '34 Hudsons with standard wheelbase (116").

When replacing brake linings, if you order through a brake shop, make sure you ask for the softest lining you can get, the '34 Hudson has cable brakes and if you order hard linings you will need pleny of leg muscles to apply the brakes due to the hard linings.

Every time I asked for soft linings I was told "They won't last long", they don't realise we don't drive these cars daily. They sure make a lot of difference.

Thank you that is what I thought that they work up through 35 on the 8 cyl cars but not the long wheelbase cars. Now to find some material to do them.

Mark, One and 3/4 inch width is incorrect ? I am asking as I have some Hudson 8 brake shoe linings
listed for : 1932-33 Terraplane; 1932-33 Hudson and one set listed for 1934-41 Eight. These are NORS by Rusco brand and hoping one box would work for you. Of course I have no idea if soft or hard lining. I have none that are 2 and 3/8 wide. Gert Kristiansen

Gert The 1 3/4 are 33-4 Terraplane and Hudson Challenger, 35 Hudson Suburban 6 from what I can see. I do not believe that anything would work 34-41 According to Hudson Chassis book it is something like 36-41. I know the shoes on the 34 are definitely greater than 2 1/4 wide. The multibestos part number is something like 276. Hudson part is F 48134. Mark

Forgot shameless self-promotion and capitalist greed - do you or someone need steel wheels
for a 1934 Hudson Eight ? I rescued about 5 repainted and 5 worn original paint artillery wheels from a hot-rod project ( certainly not mine). Gert

I wouldnt stuff around trying to find rivetted-on linings. Take your shoes to a brake specialist and get new linings bonded on.

Gert I would be interested in the wheels, I am not sure where you are located ( I know shipping is not cheap on wheels) but the ones I have are not great by any measure so if they are nice I definitely am interested. Pics to my email (RA4JUMB@MSN) without the brackets would be great. Mark

Here is a pic of where I am at I borrowed the linings in this pic (they are from my Uncle Tom's stash) and now I have to replace them for his project. The cables I have are not good but they would work for testing and the purpose of not forgetting how things go back together (Paul S has a set of used ones for me in the spring) but it keeps this moving along.
