Did the trucks have wheel covers? If so what fits this wheel. No little clips like on the cars.

Looks like a Ford Wheel someone drilled for the pin.
    Chrysler and Studebaker also fit.
It did have the Wheels with clips originaly

Looks like the sort of thing Paul (out in WV) or Alex (out in Waterford) would have hanging around in an outbuilding somewhere. To save yourself gasoline, though, you may want to come up with a list of all this needed stuff before you head out to rummage around! Looks like the previous owner did a lot of "mix and match"ing of parts!

Yup, Hudson wheels have..or had, the clips. I'm using a set of 15 in wheels and Hubcaps from a wrecked 37 car I got from a Mr. Davidchuck that Jon B. had met and remembered (Name and address) from 20 years earlier, in Broadalbin, NY. They clearly say 'Hudson' for the great unwashed that doesn't know.

I just tried it again and same thing. I would appreciate copies if you won't mind mailing them. My printer is not working. I'll add this info to my PU information folder. Let me know how much IOU for mailing.

I had some wheels where the clips were broken on my 41 pickup. Since the wheels are the same as Chrysler cars of the same era, I checked Andy Bernbaum and they sell the clips that you can use to replace the old ones. You do need someone that knows how to do the rivets, but otherwise pretty easy. The wheels are exactly the same as for the cars.

I've replaced some with screws and nuts. Heavy duty pop rivets will also work.

On my car, I took the clips off a wheel that was laying around and spot welded them in place. Works great.

  • It's hard to imagine a leather stretch type wheel cover that does not have a
synthetic fiber backing. Without a very tough backer strip, the leather would
never survive the force required to stretch it over the wheel.
