anyone know where to get rear tranny mount
-
all i see on ebay is the rear mount for older stuff up to 47. anyone know of a source for a 53 mount for standard 3 speed? i see kanter has them and have bought from them before, but i think they are over 100 bucks. maybe thats a fair price, but i was hoping to get one a little cheaper. i don't want to get stuck into waiting for a order from a place that may not have in stock. doesn't look like wildrick restoration has full line stuff up yet and i didn't see any in the wtn.

I was able to use a Jeep CJ Tranny mount from a 1968-1971 Jeep.
Seems to me NAPA had them or could order them -
Rear mounts are the same for all models from '34 through to '54, including Jet.If you're stuck in a hole, stop digging.

Kgap advertises them for $40

Note that most of the replacement rear mounts are the thickness of the original mounts for the pre-stepdown 6-cyl cars. Those on the 8s or stepdown 6s were about 1/4" thicker. On my '47C8 I couldn't get the proper angle on the front u-joint until I shimmed the rear motor mount up by about 1/4". Used a piece of tailpipe hanger material that's similar to tire casing material.

thank you all for the information.
Geoff- i thought i had read they were all the same, but i wasn't sure and didn't want to take the chance.
Uncle Josh- i like the 40 bucks, i just don't want to chance having to wait for a long time if i could avoid it.
thanks for the tip Park W!
i am just going to order it from wildrick restorations. i just didn't want to be pushy if they weren't ready. besides i know it will be good stuff and on time from them, not that it wouldn't be from anyone else, buy why take the chance. thanks for the heads up, clutch guy. i will give you a call this week.
thanks again everyone. -
Just for an overall FYI then and now auto also 'revulcanizes' mounts at a very reasonable cost.
Got mine from them for my 36 and its great!
www.then-now.com I believe.

Park, did you have a drive line vibration because of that? wondering because I have had one in my Pacemaker ever since I have owned it (25 years) at higher speeds. I have replaced the mount also in addition to phasing the drive shaft correctly -- it was wrong when I bought the car and have also had the shaft balanced as a unit plus drive shaft mounts. Mine comes at about 70mph so I haven't attempted to go any farther.
Any info on proper angles for the drive shaft??
