High Levels of SPAM Activity on ClassicCar.com Forums
-
ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE
Folks - As you might be aware, are some SPAM threads posted on the forums here on ClassicCar.com. Not as bad as it was, however it appears that it will always be an issue.
If you see a post that you suspect as SPAM, please click on the 'Flag' button and report it. That action notifies all moderators and administrators of the offending thread, and we'll see that it is attended-to (i.e., deleted, and the offending poster banned from the site).
Please -
- Do not click on any of the links in a suspected SPAM thread;
- Do not reply/post to the thread;
- Do not attempt to make contact or 'PM' the SPAMMER.
Thank you for your help and support. -
In General - Just a follow-up on this.
The SPAM thus far posted on this Forums seems to go in spurts - we didn't get any for about a week (during Thanksgiving week). However it has picked-up again, and in the last couple of days there has been at least a dozen separate instances of SPAM posted here.
Our thanks to all those that take the time to 'flag' these type of posts - it really makes a big difference, and helps us take care of it in a timely manner. -
Are these bots attacking the site? If so, although everyone hates them you could add a captcha challenge - it really cuts the bot attacks down.
-
Just exactly where is this "Flag" button you mentioned above. I sure don't see it on the page I'm looking at right now. Sorry, I just now found it!Jerry

Look to the right of everyone's handle on each 'post' (to the right of the time of the post). The 'Flag' button is there. Small type, not bolded, etc..
-
So you have to click on a potential spam before you can flag it?
-
Lee,
The 'post' is already there. There is no danger to you or your PC by going to the thread - and if it is SPAM, just click on 'Flag' and report it. Don't click on any links within a suspect thread or post, just report it...
It's not hard, not 'rocket science' -
