Help getting around in San Fernando
-
Hi everyone,
I am going to be heading down San Fernando from Sacramento during the Thanksgiving long weekend to check out a Hudson. Unfortunately I do not have a car so I am going down with Greyhound. I just need a ride from the greyhound station to where those 11 Hudson's where listed and back to the bus station afterwards. I will cover the cost of gas so who ever is able to does not have to worry.
As for the dates I am planning for the 23rd - 24th of November, so it won't disturb anyone's celebrations. Also I will cover the cost of gas for the two days for helping me get around.
Thanks,
ChrisChristopher

Be careful going into LA. There are some bad areas I wouldn't go into myself. Didn't Lee O'Dell post the info on those 11 Hudsons? Maybe you can go with him if he is in the area.
-
I'll ask him again, hopefully we can figure something out since I do not want to rent a car to get around. Also he did post information on them, just I need to go down in person so I pay for the one I bought and coordinate shipping it back to Sacramento.

commodore - they're in the San Fernando Valley. Assuming the bus is coming down I-5 I would assume it would stop in some major city in the Valley, such as Van Nuys. From a bus terminal there there are city buses running east & west in the Valley. Find Sherman Way on a map, it's a 4 lane major street with buses that would take you into the West Valley. From a convenient bus stop on Sherman Way, such as at Winnetka, you could probably walk to George's place.
-
Greyhound doesn't have a stop in Van Nuys, but they do have a stop in San Fernando. The area there is outside of LA so is probably fairly safe.
-
I just noticed that it stops in San Fernando, so I am going to plan my schedule around that. However I still have not got a ride down there just yet. I'll call Lee tomorrow to tell him what is going on.
Thanks OldHudsons and Ken for giving me more insight of how to get around in SoCal.Christopher

San Fernando up in the northeast corner of the Valley. Of course the easiest way to get to where you want would be to take a taxi.
I think you should look at a street map & see how to get from S. F. down to central part of the Valley where you'll find the main e-w arteries, esp. previously mentioned Sherman Way which is a 4 lane main street with buses running on it. It's about 20 miles across the Valley east to west. -
HOPE YOU DON'T GET TO THE SAN FERNANDO BUS DEPOT ANYTIME AFTER DARK...
-
The way I am planning my bus schedule would be to arrive in the morning and leave a little after mid day on the bus back to Sacramento. I have not booked anything yet because I am still waiting for someone in the SoCal who is willing to help another HET member.Christopher

If your flexable you can pretty much fly to BURBANK from Sacramento on Southwest airlines the last week of November for about $140 round trip..thats only $20 more than riding the Greyhound and you dont end up riding in a smelly old bus for over 8 hours one way.
THERE IS PROBABLY A BUS DIRECTLY FROM THE AIRPORT DIRECTLY TO THE CITY YOU NEED TO GET TO...
-
I could do that too, but I would still prefer to have some help getting around down there since I have never been there before.Christopher
