I know that this has happened before but back in 1933 did they start build on car in 32 and title it as a 32 even though it was a 33 the terraplane I just bought is titled as 32 even though it's a 33? This was a California car.

My dads 1927 is a very nice original registered in NY as a 28 since new, based on the initial registration in 1928. I've heard this was pretty common practice, so I wouldn't be concerned unless the VIN looked sketchy.

You're sure you have a 1933? Have you checked your car's serial number and compared it to the 1933 ones?

As faustmb indicates, this was a common practice, depending on what state the vehicle was registered-in initially.
- Many vehicle manufacturers began their next year's vehicles months before the actual end of the year - and that vehicle was available way before the beginning of the year;
- And many vehicles made in the late in the previous year were still in dealer inventory at start of the new year;

This meant that there are numerous cases where a vehicle for the next year is registered as a previous year (i.e., a 1933 registered as a 1932), as well as the reverse (a 1933 vehicle registered as a 1934).
I've seen at least a couple Hudson pickup trucks listed and registered as '1945' as the year - however as we all know, Hudson didn't make any pickups from 1943-1945.

Here in Calif. there are two dates on the registration and title, one says yr. model and the other says yr. sold. Calif goes by the yr. sold. I once had a 63 Falcon that was originally sold in another state. It was first registered in Calif. in 66 so the yr. sold on the title was 66.

@Marconi - So I could register my '39 Hudson pickup in CA, and it would be a 2012? :-/

once bought a '42 C8 conv. but 1st titled & sold in '43 as said on title. Called original owner, who's last name was Ford, LOL, to verify. Very interesting story. Seemingly in cities like L.A. once war started all unsold cars confiscated by the gov't. & if sedans were usually made into vehicles for officers BUT gov't. not interested in convertibles! This guy seemingly had "juice" as was able in '43 to get permission to buy one of these new cars in storage, saw this beautiful light gray '42 Hudson Commodore 8 convertible with blue leather uph. & took it. He owned a chain of drive-in movies, put a lot of miles on it, replaced engine, but altho mechanically worn when I got it body exc.
Now restored & in Mich.

Good news. Any luck with your other parts? I have yet to see or hear from anyone with extra bumpers, but there must be some out there. They are so flimsy, my is broken and rewelded in at least 4 places and that was all done pre 65:(

No luck on any other parts yet. I do have a 34 front bumper. I have seen on another 33 doesn't look too bad just dives down really deep in the middle. Also I haven't yet figured out how to down load pics yet, but I'm sure I will figure out.

I Bought some bumper brackets from Ed Moore and gave him the bumper back, I am not sure if he would part with it but it might be worth asking. My Uncle Tom Brintnall may have a rear as well. I spoke to him on the hood pieces and he said the guy would mot likely cast and plate more if you still need them. Be aware that they are very difficult to plate and even originals can get destroyed in the plating process because they have that point on the end. Mark
