Is it helpful to a 6 volt system or is the statement hot air

The overall gage is what's important, braided was original but a heavy gage modern replacement is fine. Napa has a decent selection of heavy gage #2 cables which is what I've been using for about 7 years.

Number one (1) is what you should use. We make cables for six volts and they work great. Walt.

I ordered the stuff online cables, ends, bat terminals, and solder lugs and made mine out of 1 gauge as well.
Worked great.
