I have a 1969 bonneville with no engine, what size, make, years can I drop in there?

The car should have come with either a 350, a 400 or a 428. The next year, 1970, the 455 was introduced so I would go with any of those four choices with maybe the exception of the 350 as it wouldn't move a Bonneville as easily or quickly as the others. Good luck with the car.

    FROM THE HUDSON PAGE I WOULD SAY A 308 6 OR A AMC 327

If I were going to go with an engine other than a Pontiac, it would be a Chevrolet big block. I definitely would not go with any make other than Pontiac or Chevrolet. Even considering both of those, the swap will be a whole lot simpler and even more reasonable if you stick with a Pontiac engine, especially if you can get the same as originally in the car. Again, good luck with it.

I agree with PAULARGETYPE that the flathead Hudson Hornet 308 would be a great engine to drop into your Pontiac if just for all the attention you'll get everytime you pop the hood at the local cruise night and especially the National Pontiac meet. Powerful engine too! (just another opinion from the Hudson page you apparently are also seeking advice from).

There was a interesting post on Hudson forum with pictures of a late model Corvette powered by Hudson 308 engine.
