    Guys,

One-Sentence Executive Summary: Can you tell me the best resource to educate myself on classic car body values so I can get the most out of the rusted, not-running 1974 Chevy Nova I own?

I came into ownership of a really ill-maintained 1974 Chevy Nova. I am interested in selling it and I am having a difficult time getting an approximate market price I can use to guide my listing and negotiating. I tried using the forum search function here but an answer wasn't forthcoming. I've spent an hour googling around, and it seems that my car is worth less than $1,000, because there is some rust on the frame. Otherwise, the condition of the car: the body is in pretty good shape, the engine is mostly gone, all the glass is still on there, does not run, and it is very dirty.

I'll try to post pictures in the next few days. In the meantime, can someone please link me to a site or a forum post that goes through each determinant of value in a car like this, and generally explains the market for classic cars to a novice like me. I am looking to just get the most money out of this car as I can, for the time being. In the future, it is a small dream of mine to have a sweet-looking classic car.

    Thank you.

Craigslist and ebay. Find cars like yours for sale and see what they are selling for. The market is different than a book will tell you it's worth and markets in different areas of the country will net different pricing. For a rusted out 74 Nova in these parts you'd be lucky to get $500.

Stock car racers use the Novas but as yours has drum front and rear breaks it is not that desirable as a start for a racer. I would only pay about 200.00 for a No-running Nova. People will want your car,but you will get only about salvage value unless you start to spend money to make it a drivable car.If it has a positrac or a rear sway bar this will help in selling to a racer.
