This 'motor thingy' (you'll understand when you read the description) is on Ebay. Looks like something pretty neat for those looking for period-type HP upgrades. It is listed as a Studebaker/Hudson, however I don't recall Hudson putting a supercharger on any of their vehicles (at least coming out the front door of the factory)...

One complication is that this rig blows through the carburetor rather than drawing through it. So you need a sealed enclosure for the carburetor(s), or modified carb made to take pressurized air. I bought a fairly new unit like this back in the fifties to put in my Hornet- powered '47 S6 Brougham. But after studying the unit a bit I decided it would exceed my modest capabilities to build the needed carb enclosure. So sold it and bought a finned aluminum head and Edmonds triple carb manifold. That looked more sexy anyway!

Andy Granatelli, owner of Paxton, had two of them on his '60 Chrysler 300F Special Gran Turismo that went 189.99 mph at Bonneville.

I own a Kaiser Manhattan that had a supercharger on it that worked reasonably well. I couldn't get the engine to stop leaking at the rear main seal, so I replaced it with a 327 Chevy small block. I sold the supercharger & air box for more than the cost of the small block (I got a real good deal from a good friend). I sold the engine for an additional five hundred about a year later.
