Weight of a '37 Terraplane coupe?
-
Odd question, I know, but I have to haul this on a car trailer across the state (Washington) and I need to figure how big the tow vehicle needs to be. The car is actually only body, front fenders, drive train and frame. No doors, grill, glass, hood or trunk lid, seat, or sliding pickup bed. I'm going to guess about 2,000 pounds; does this seem about right? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question but I don't know who else to ask.
Thanks for any thoughts out there in Hudsonland!

Hi John
Bigger is safer. Especially if you are going to use a U-Haul trailer. One ton with duallies. I personally prefer flat bed hauler for my cars rather than towing.

You are probablnot far off the mark. According to Butler's "history of Hudson, a '37 Terraplane business coupe weighs 2370 lbs.If you're stuck in a hole, stop digging.

According to a Hudson issued weight sheet in my General Info Handbook (a copy in the online library under Other H - E - T Literature) the 1937 Terraplane business coupe shipping weight was 2765, with a License weight of 2670. The total weight is given as 2,840 split in front at 1410 and rear 1430.
All that said with the car as you described it Geoff is probably close to the mark.
