37 cab corner explaination ?
-
Stripped the cab down on the 37 Terraplane PU and find the front bottom corner sections rather odd. This appearred to be an original cab mounted on a car chassis in 37 (truck kit?) Are the cab corners factory?

I highly doubt that's factory. Especially since both sides were done different. The right side is a gas welded butt joint? The left a riveted lap joint. Neither side with very good results.
If it were me, and assuming the metal below the joint is good? I would cut a stip wide enough to go below the old repair on the bottom, and high enough on the top to go past the rusted out area. Then butt weld it all in.
At least that's what I'd do, based on the pictures.

Well, here is what I found underneath the added extensions, some one must have put these in, in order to install different fenders?

It would appear so!
Can you post pictures of the fenders that were on the car? Perhaps a '37 owner would be able to tell if they are the original type.

This was a cab I got off eBay. There was no front sheet metal. The frame it is mounted on is longer from the front cab mount to the end of the frame horn then the original PU frame I am working with.

Oh wow! I wasn't expecting that! My first thought was, is there a long and short wheel base in this year? This is where I would expect the factory to make up the different wheel base length. This could be some one trying to change a short wheel base cab to a long one? Maybe? Or maybe a different year cab?
I have no idea, just throwing it out there.
Need to compare it to some pictures of an untouched car/truck. -
here is a photobucket album of the ongoing work--
